What is it and why should I enable it?

Two-factor authentication is a second layer of security to protect an account from takeover. It is designed to prevent unauthorized access to an account by requesting a 6 digit code during login. This code is securely generated on your authenticator. 

 

What if I lose my authenticator?

During the setup you will be given a randomly generated backup code. This can be used to disable two-factor authentication on your account at anytime.

 

Enabling Two-Factor Authentication

  1. Go to security settings
  2. Click on the "Two-factor Authentication" checkbox
  3. Go through the setup

WARNING: KEEP YOUR BACKUP CODE SOMEWHERE SECURE AND DO NOT SHARE IT WITH ANYONE.

 

Disabling Two-Factor Authentication

  1. Go to security settings
  2. Click on the "Two-factor Authentication" checkbox
  3. Click the red button labeled "Disable"
  4. Enter the 6 digit code from your authenticator

 

Generating a new backup code

  1. Go to security settings
  2. Click on the "Two-factor Authentication" checkbox
  3. Click the green button labeled "Download"
  4. Enter the 6 digit code from your authenticator
